Illusography Hits Myspace!

For those of you who don't already know, illusography was first intended to be a myspace based site. However after countless "brain farts" and "verbal vomits" we decided to move on to other mediums of promoting ourselves and that's how this blog was created. But don't count us out of the myspace hype just yet... I (Apol) was recently inspired by these "tricked out" myspaces that looked like websites rather than having the traditional layouts and decided to "HOOK ILLUSOGRAPHY UP" with a tricked out myspace of its own. So come and check out the fruit of my labor, add us and drop us a line if you'd like: www.myspace.com/illusography

Project Kimi: Photoshoot

Today, I had a photoshoot with my friend Kimiko from USF. She needed photos for her portfolio as she is a dancer at USF. It was also a good way for me to play with lighting and posing and all that good stuff.

Anywhoo, Apol came out and offered help. He assisted in lighting as well as posing--he gave Kimi a "finger-in-the-mouth-look-innocent" look and Kimi did it hahah... I must say tho, Kimi is a pure natural when it comes to posing. After reviewing the 212 pictures, we saved 64 that we liked.. it's hard for her to choose ONE pic to print an 8x10! haha So instead, we're printing all 64 pictures in 4x6 as proofs! We took pics both inside the studio and out doors in a nearby lot.

Afterwards, I treated them out to In-n-Out and now we're playing Wii Bowling at my house. Photographers and models do need to play something. hahah

Capita City Photoshoot

January 15 was the day background papers were rolled, lightstands were up, and cameras clicked for Capita City's first photoshoot. Many came out [a lil more than a dozen] to support and give their time to the success of the photoshoot.

Illusography would like to thank everyone for coming through.
For those who helped made this possible: Jayr [interviewer from Medic], Nate [comic relief], Matt [light reflector holder/DJ], Jordan [videographer/DJ], Apol [videographer], JJ [photographer], and Manny [who provided the clothes from Capita City].

And for those who modeled the clothes, Illusography would like to thank those as well: Justine, Aiza, Agnes, William, Shan, Daniel, Cynthia, and Ava.

More pictures will be posted later on jcasasphotography.com and Capita City.

Interview with DJ Mattmatics of Dope Show Clothing

Illustration "Illusography" by DJ Mattmatics

JJ Casas of jC Photography/Illusography interviews DJ Mattmatics of Dope Show Clothing and finds out the details on this upcoming line of clothing that should appeal to the Bay Area masses.

illusography: What makes this clothing brand different from all the other Bay Area clothing out there?

DJ Mattmatics: The only thing different are the people who are on it. The people on the design... are all people who don't follow the same trend. We are trend-leavers. We go on the Marilyn Manson idea--we feed on everyone's fantasies and fear. That's what we're going to do with Dope Show. Certain things might piss you off, but it's still good.

ill: Tell me more of Dope Show Clothing. Where does the name come from and who's the clothing for?

DJM: Idea of the name comes from the idea of opening a world--a realm. It started out like a show--there are theme shirts, some scary things, a lil happy; but Dope Show is the eye for another place that is suppose to exist. Right now, simple t-shirts are underway to put the name out and later on we'll drop some heavy designs.

ill: What made you make this clothing line?

DJM: Im suppose to go FIDM; I've always wanted to make a clothing line. This clothing line feels right and I'm jumping on it now. I've felt that I've had this concept since high school but I feel that now is the time. I feel like I'm about to catch a fat ass wave and jump on it. The thing that's keeping me on is this concept and the connections I've made right now to take this wave. I have to take this plunge.

ill: Is your clothing line influenced by the Bay Area?

DJM: Yea I guess it is because when you think of the Bay, it is such a diverse area. This line will feed the Hyphy movement, the Rock, the Goth and the softer side--the lover side and all that. I want this clothing line to reflect the diversity. Bay Area is bigger than the Hyphy movement.

ill: You work for a media company. Tell me how working in different areas and scenes has influenced you to create a clothing line.

DJM: In the company that I work in, it helped me a lot in creating this. I've been with them before they were actually a company. I've put my blood and sweat into their company and it has helped me grow to a person. I'm also in the music industry and it's open my eyes to a lot of things. Rappers are wearing something--these t-shirts. I'm seeing a lot of different shirts and it's like "Shit, I can do that." I'm seeing it everyday. That's what helps me grounded--seeing things everyday.

ill: You said "I can do that." What can we expect from this clothing line so that it won't be a copycat?

DJM: I dont know how I can put it in words but all I need is people to see it. I show Apol stuff all the time and if he flips out, I'll put it out. I guess people will have to check it out. But there will be something for everyone. There's always going to be a new genre from Dope Show.

ill: Give me a date when it's out.

DJM: Late Spring 2007, early Fall 2007.

ill: How about costs.

DJM: It'll depend on type of shirts. We are going to push a regular line of shirts for $50. We are pushing for limited edition shirts--called Certain Collections--only 151 prints will be printed. The product packaging is all part of the cost--they'll be in collector's boxes.

ill: Where can we find more info on this clothing?

DJM: The only spot you can find info for now is Illusography.com

SF Westfield Shopping Center Adventure

The Illusography crew hit SF's Westfield Shopping Center to find inspiration and spread the word of the upcoming photoshoot and projects of Illusography. Actually, we were just bored and Manny had to pick up some art supplies at the nearby Pearl and Apol, Nate, and JJ just wanted to go.

The latter did happen tho--inspiration was sought after and Nate, with his undeniable ease of talk with strangers, got to spread the word of Capita City and the upcoming shoot.
That's Nate giving his number to the ladies--what a gent.

DJ Mattmatics Collabo

I was working on a mix for a friend of mine that goes to UCD and got the worst case of "mixer's block!"(just some disease that's been going around) So who better to call in such a situation than DJ MATTMATICS.

With a flick of my scuzzy flip phone I was headed to his studio located 20000 leagues beneath the Luna residents. You're instantly greeted with the sounds of snares and 808's scratched by the CDJ's(CD Turntables, for those who are unfamiliar with the DJ world) and a couple of huge CD books with literally tons of songs to choose from. (Most of them not even out on the radio yet if I might add)

So after hearing each part of the mix about a thousand times and talking about his adventures with the rest of CV-Creations at Vegas this past week, my dilemma was finally solved, the mix was finally done!! Major props to DJ MATTMATICS for coming through, especially on short notice.

So if you all ever need a mix done or need a dj for your event, you should most definitely hit up this guy.

New facelift done by Apol. JJ was just just there doing other business. Kudos. Kudos to us doing this at 1:56am.

Wii Come to See if there Are Wiis....

...and they're out still.

Longs Drugs: 50% Off

After Apol bought his 'phones, I went over to Longs Drugs and whallah: 50% off. I go straight to the Photo Department and wipe out their stock of Kodak's 400n BW Film. I got a total of 5 packs [each contain 3 rolls of 24 exposures] for a total of $34.22. Yay.

Serramonte: Apol Buys Sony Headphones

Apol calls and he says we go to Serramonte so he can pick up some headphones. I oblige.

To sum it up, here are pictures of his purchase:

Apol used a giftcard. So his total was $34.11 after his $20.00 discount. And then he gave me $0.60 for one AAA battery for the noise canceling feature.

Photoshoot for Nate's Portfolio

Right after school, I called Apol up to take pictures for presentation photos for the graphic design portfolio I'm working on. We can't tell you what I have in store for you guys just yet because it's our little secret ; )...No homo. We went to L&L Hawiian BBQ and Apol ate hella food. By hella food, I mean he ate around the steak bones, spit out the fat of the steak, and left 3/4 of his food untouched. I also saw my 6 or 7 year old (sorry I forgot her age broham) niece there by herself with her momma waiting outside. We took photos inside and outside and it was sunny but wold and windy as hell and I just realized this is a run-on sentence. Now we're at Apol's house, JJ has no celphone minutes, and Jordan is working on his beats.
